Interventional Cardiology

Interventional Cardiologists In Ocala , FLorida

Interventional cardiologists are specialists that use cutting-edge procedures to correct heart conditions when noninvasive and preventive measures are no longer an option. Dr. M. Singh works with the best board-certified interventional cardiologists in the area to provide patients with long-term solutions to their cardiac conditions. The goal of interventional cardiology is to intervene or reverse cardiac conditions including conditions affecting the arteries.

At Marion Heart Associates and Marion Internal Medicine Associates, we use an array of procedures to help diagnose and treat heart disease, including but not limited to the following.

Cardiac Stress Tests
A cardiac stress test is a diagnostic test in which the patient’s heart is monitored while performing physical activity. Oftentimes, a cardiac stress test involves a patient walking or jogging on a treadmill. The heart’s activity is monitored carefully throughout this process. In the event physical activity cannot be performed to produce the results necessary, a pharmacological stress test may be provided.
Echocardiography
An echocardiogram, or cardiac ultrasound, is an imaging procedure that uses sound waves to produce detailed images of the heart and how it pumps blood to the rest of the body. Echocardiograms are noninvasive and painless. Our board-certified cardiologists may recommend a cardiac ultrasound to diagnose heart conditions that affect the valves and chambers.
Nuclear Cardiology
Nuclear cardiology is a cutting-edge subspecialty of cardiology that focuses on using noninvasive techniques to evaluate the function of the heart. Nuclear cardiology techniques typically focus on how the heart pumps blood. Common nuclear cardiology procedures like myocardial perfusion imaging also allow our board-certified doctors to determine the location and size of a heart attack after it happens.
Holter Monitoring
A Holter monitor is a small device that a patient wears to record the heart’s activity throughout the day. Most commonly used to detect arrhythmias – or irregular heartbeats – our board-certified doctors may recommend you wear a Holter monitoring system if you have unexplained fainting spells or a condition that heightens the risk of arrhythmias.
30-Day Event Monitoring
30-day event monitoring is similar to Holter monitoring, as event monitoring requires the patient to wear a device that monitors the activity of the heart. Event monitoring, however, only records activity during an event, whether that be irregular heartbeats or a fainting spell.

Other Interventional Cardiology Procedures

While many interventional cardiology procedures, like the ones above, are minimally or noninvasive, there are many other interventional cardiology procedures that use more invasive techniques. These procedures include stenting – or using small tubing to widen narrowing pathways for blood to pump through – and the use of a catheter to clear pathways that may have blockages.
